GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - SA Women Fight Back was started on the 8th of August when one woman learned about yet another heartless murder and simply decided, “enough is enough”. She started the group the day Meghan Cremer’s body was found. This for her, and we think for many women across South Africa, was the final straw. The vision for SA Women Fight Back is to cultivate a united front among our female citizens, against violent crimes and femicide in our country. With strength in unity we hope our call is heard. We call for harsher sentencing on all rape and murder cases in our country, access to life saving information, education, as well as, resources granted for all community programmes.
We are working on a number of exciting initiatives , and our incredible admin team have been working non-stop (literally) to turn this group into something unstoppable.
In almost three short weeks, our Facebook page has received an overwhelmingly positive response, with 81 000 members and counting. A clear testament to how we, as South African women, are feeling. Women from all corners of the country, from all walks of life, have created private WhatsApp groups for their communities. Currently we have 35 groups running. These groups are allowing us to create a clear vision vision and mobilising real change from a grassroots level and up.
On Saturday 31 of August we invite all South Africans Women, to join us at various event locations across South Africa for one hour of silence to honour all of our Fallen Angels. We will pay respect to the countless women who needlessly lost their lives due to violent crime rampant in South Africa.
We will wear black in solidarity.
Should this initiative ring true to you and you would like to join us please email us your full name contact number and town closest to you. We will confirm with you telephonically before adding you to the appropriate WhatsApp area group for local events and information updates.
