GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - World-renowned saxophonist Andrew Young brings his new show, Roll Over Beethoven, to South Africa, with performances in George, Wilderness and Plettenberg Bay.

He performs at the Market Community Theatre in George at 19:00 on 5 March and at the Bramon Wine Estate in Plettenberg Bay at 19:00 on 6 March. The tour then continues to the Eastern Cape, Durban and Somerset West, with 56 performances scheduled in total. Book a ticket on Webtickets or www.andrewyoung.net (R180 a person).
Musical roots
Roll Over Beethoven marks a return to Young’s musical roots. The only musician in his family, he developed his style independently. From a young age, he explored genres such as classical, jazz, soul, rhythm and blues and reggae, while mastering the clarinet and saxophone.
The programme includes works such as “Roll Over Beethoven” by Chuck Berry, “Habanera” by Georges Bizet, “Route 66” popularised by Nat King Cole, “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Still Got the Blues” by Gary Moore and “Wishing on a Star” by Rose Royce.
