KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - Waterfront Drive has been cleared of leftover glass and beer after a beer truck lost its load earlier today, 24 November.
Shortly after noon, a truck carrying over 500 crates (according to the driver) of beer turned onto Waterfront Drive en route to Oudtshoorn.
The load shifted during the turn, and its weight was too much for the canvas on the side of the truck to hold.
This led to a large part of the freight spilling out onto Waterfront Drive, with the driver coming to a stop immediately. Members of the Knysna Fire and Rescue Department, Knysna Municipal Law Enforcement, Western Cape Provincial Traffic Department, and Knysna Police were quickly on the scene.

The left lane of the road was closed to allow for the clean-up to take place, causing significant traffic delays. After two hours, the road was reopened and traffic flow returned to normal.

While many a beer drinker will consider it one of the worst disasters this year, they could just remember that 2020 has dealt out its fair share of tragedies.
