KNYSNA NEWSFLASH - Stepping Stones Pre-Primary and Riverwood Primary School celebrated its 42nd birthday in the first week of the third term.
The celebratory assembly acknowledged Madiba’s 100 birthday, the school’s 42 birthday, and two staff members for long-service awards, Mrs Abbott and Mrs River.
The focus for this year’s celebration was on Denise River who started her career at Stepping Stones Pre-Primary in 1978. She has reached a significant milestone now, 40 years! That is two generations!
Mrs River worked as classroom assistant to principals Pauline Grindley for 3 years and Lesley Satchel for more than 20 years, and Grade 1 teachers Sandy Berndt and Daphne Abbot for 6 and 10 years respectively.
The special guests who were able to attend this event included Mrs Lesley Satchel, Mrs Trish Griffin, Mrs Sarah Dlamini, Shandré and Shannon River as well as one of Mrs River’s grandchildren.
