KNYSNA NEWS - The search for Knysna resident Rachel Brinkhuis resulted in the discovery of her body in the bushes near Charlie Le Vack Street on Thursday 16 January.
An inquest docket has subsequently been opened by police and circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation.
Knysna Community Police Forum chairperson Cheryl Britz extended her gratitude to all the parties involved in the search.
"A big thank you to everyone that assisted with this search operation since her disappearance on 22 December 2019, especially to the search party that consisted of the Knysna Police, trained police search and rescue dogs, Sanparks, Metro Search and Rescue, Knysna municipal fire department, Knysna Community Police Forum and NHW Patrollers, Working on Fire, Knysna United, Wilderness Search and Rescue, Narysec (National Rural Youth Service Corps) Knysna, Knysna Forensic Pathology and members from the community. We also want to convey our condolences to her family for their loss of a loved one, as well as her friends and the community," Britz said on Facebook.
Brinkhuis was last seen on 19 December last year.
