Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula says the 36-year-old man was arrested in Hamburg in the Peddie Area after a nine day investigation by several detectives from Port Alfred.
He says the man is the prime suspect in the murder of the two British nationals, Brian and Christine Ann Davis, aged 60 and 65, who were attacked in their home in Lindsay Street on the 1st of August.
The woman was found with her throat slit in the living room of her house.
Her husband was found in a pool of blood in the garage with serious head injuries.
He died later in hospital.
A woman arrested earlier for allegedly being in possession of suspected stolen property is said to be the suspect's wife.
Lt-Col Donkrag said they found the suspect at about 15:40 on Friday in a shack watching TV with a girlfriend.
