PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A woman was arrested after the body of a baby girl was found next to the N2, opposite Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg Bay, on Monday 19 August.
After being called to the scene at about 11:00, police found that the girl, believed to be three days old, had been declared dead by medical personnel.
An investigation led police to a nearby hospital, where a baby girl had been born a few days before.
Police then tracked down a woman (23), who had apparently given birth to the baby girl, in Kwanokuthula, and arrested her on a murder charge.
The suspect, who is in custody, is expected to make her first court appearance in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's court today, Monday 26 August.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said the investigation was continuing.
