PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The N2 in Plettenberg Bay remains closed after another unsuccessful meeting between the Qolweni community and the Bitou Municipality.
The national road has been closed since Monday due to rioting by Qolweni residents over unhappiness about a housing project in the area. Protestors have been barricading the road near the Shell garage with burning tyres and other debris.
Municipal officials have had two meetings with the community since Monday, but both failed to end the rioting.
Motorists have been forced to use an alternative route via the town’s Airport Road.
