PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Plett Ocean Festival got off to a swinging start at the Beacon Island Hotel on Friday 21 June with Bitou mayor Claude Terblanche saying it gets better and better each year.
Under the banner of “Birds of a Feather “ the festival, combined with talks and excursions linked to the Marine Science Symposium, offers the best of birding Plett has to showcase.
Terblanche congratulated Plett Tourism for showcasing what the town has at a function coinciding with the Winter Solstice (21 June).
“Even if it’s winter, it’s still a showcase. Congratulations! It makes me proud- and you yourselves should be proud,” said Terblanche According to Plett Tourism, Plettenberg Bay thrives during the winter season, offering mild weather and abundant marine life. The festival season coincides with the presence of whales in the bay, ideal ocean conditions, and the congregation of resident seals, dolphins, sharks, and marine birds.
