PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – Thanks to eagle-eyed Bitou crime fighters, a stolen bicycle and various other items were recovered and a suspect was arrested over the past week.
According to Lisa Nagel of Plett.Watch, the local neighbourhood watch group, Bitou law enforcement officers were doing patrols in Plettenberg Bay when they noticed a suspicious person in the vicinity of the Market Square Shopping Centre on Saturday.
"Upon investigation, it was discovered that the bicycle had been stolen in Kwanokuthula earlier," Nagel said. The suspect was arrested on the spot and the bicycle returned to its owner.
"Once again this shows that our Bitou guys are on the ball and wide awake," she said.
On Sunday night, Fidelity ADT response officers recovered goods stolen from a home garage in Robberg Road. Nagel said a homeowner posted on the Plett.Watch WhatsApp group that there was an intruder on his property during load-shedding.
Officers responded and found that several items, including various power tools, had been stolen from the homeowner's garage. Officers found the items stashed under a bush in the area, but the suspect managed to avoid arrest.
