Experts warn that not only is it illegal to set traps for the purposes of poaching and trapping animals (often for the illegal trade in wild animals), but it could also cause serious injuries.
One resident found her dogs in a cage trap, three days after they went missing on a walk outside Plettenberg Bay.
The animals were severely traumatised, hungry and thirsty after spending three days in the cage.
