KNYSNA NEWS - Parts of Rheenendal are without water due to technical problems with the newly installed pump there, the Knysna Municipality's joint operations centre said today, Saturday 17 May.
"We are experiencing technical challenges with the newly installed pump.
"Due to high demand, some parts of Rheenendal are currently without water.
"Measures are being put in place to strengthen the system by transporting water directly to the reservoirs," the centre said.
Regarding work at the Charlesford and Homtini pump stations, which experienced infrastructure failures, the centre said: "There is no change in the status of the repairs at this time. All work remains on track."
It added: "We thank our residents for their continued patience and co-operation as we work together to address the water needs of our communities."
The joint operations centre, which is co-ordinating multi-agency relief efforts, includes representation from the Western Cape government; Garden Route District Municipality's disaster management directorate; Knysna SAPS; Knysna Infrastructure Group; the Greater Knysna Business Chamber; Municipal law enforcement; traffic services; fire and rescue services; West Coast District Municipality; Gift of the Givers; and AfriForum.
