KNYSNA NEWS - As part of a wider series of drug arrests across the Garden Route in the past week, 11 suspects were arrested in Knysna on Tuesday 4 October for possession of drugs.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, small quantities of drugs were found in their possession.
"Police confiscated 24 mandrax tablets and a small quantity of tik found in possession of the suspects during these arrests."
Other arrests up and down the Southern Cape yielded "excellent" results with the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of R35 000 thanks to "the strategic deployment of various resources in crime-ridden areas as part of ongoing weekend crime combatting operations", said Spies.
"Western Cape police management lauded those deployed who ensured that drugs and liquor, that contribute to serious and violent crimes in communities, are removed. These operations remain part of the strategic approach to eradicate alcohol and drug abuse which threatens the safety of communities."
