KNYSNA NEWS - New water pumps arrived in Knysna on Sunday and one is currently being installed with a second one due to be installed on Wednesday.
So said Knysna Mayor Thando Matika during a stakeholder meeting at the council chambers earlier today, Monday 19 May.
The mayor said water will not be fully restored immediately. "The motor and pump have arrived yesterday [and are] currently being installed. The other one will be installed on Wednesday so that we can speed up the process to have water in our taps," he said.
He also said the municipality must address the lack of security at the pump stations as the premises are currently open for anyone to enter.
He also stressed the importance of proper planning and budgeting for infrastructure to avoid similar crises arising in future.
