KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's FC United is back in form under coach Msimelelo "Major" Keyizana, who has steered the team to consecutive victories in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League.
A former star player for FC United, Major has spent most of his footballing career donning the club's colours.
He takes the helm following a difficult 2024/25 season, which saw FC United struggle after losing key players, including the late Aviwe "Lion" Tshandu.
From player to coach
Born in Lusikisiki, Keyizana began playing football at a young age, like many children in rural villages, where the game was a pastime played on the streets.
He moved to Knysna in 2007 to further his studies and has remained part of the local football community ever since.
"Choosing a coaching career was not easy. It's a big responsibility, but I wanted to give young talents a chance. It's time to expose the youth in the Greater Knysna area to the game."
Giving back to the community
Keyizana emphasised that his coaching is driven by a desire to give back to the community.
"After many years playing football, I knew I wanted to coach and contribute to Knysna. Beyond football, I'm also raising my son here, so the town means a lot to me," he said.
Calling all fans
To supporters, Keyizana had a clear message: "We need you more than ever. Attend our home games, cheer for the boys, and be our 12th man. With your support, FC United can achieve great things."
