KNYSNA NEWS - The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Vermont Old Age Home was held on Thursday 18 May at the Hornlee Community Hall, with the aim of electing a new interim board to run operations at the home.
It followed after a meeting held on 12 April to establish a plan of action in addressing and solving the issues at the centre, which has faced allegations of mismanagement over a number of years.
The establishment of a new interim board that has the best interests of the Vermont residents at heart is a step towards progress.
The Department of Social Development was made aware of the efforts of the current interim board and continues to acknowledge the older interim board which was established in July 2022.
The necessary formal documentation regarding the election of the new interim board was submitted to the Department of Social Development.
The newly appointed interim board members are:
- Chairman – Mark Laminie
- Vice-chairman – Jack Simons
- Secretary – Lindsay Coetzee
- Deputy Secretary – Cleo Paulse
- Treasurer – Ilse Roman
- Deputy Treasurer – Maru-wayne Spies
- Additional members – Neagle van Rooyen, Edna Oktober, John Blaauw, Waydon Botha, Neville Norkee, Charlene Windvogel and Mark Stevens.
