BITOU NEWS - The game of musical chairs is the play of the day at Bitou municipality.
Dr Ralph Links, seconded from the Central Karoo District Municipality in Beaufort West, has been appointed Acting Municipal Manager, replacing former suspended MM, Mbulelo Memani, who was appointed by the previous DA-led coalition.
According to the municipality Memani was placed on precautionary suspension due to "allegations of misconduct."
Links’ secondment document was signed by Mayor Claude Terblanche of the now-ruling ANC coalition in his office in view of the KPH.
A statement issued by Bitou Municipality states that Links is no stranger to Bitou Municipality, having "previously served as the LED & IDP Manager in 2002 and later as the Head of Strategic management and planning".
But, Plettenberg Bay Ratepayers’ Association questions the appointment saying that Links previously left Bitou Municipality "under a cloud".
