Update
KNYSNA NEWS - In the wake of the inaugural meetings of the new municipal council, Knysna Municipality has confirmed that it is embarking on a multi-year project to resurface Knysna's roads.
Acting Municipal Manager Dawid Adonis confirmed recently that the three-year-long project to see greater Knysna's roads resurfaced and ancillary works done, kicked off last week.
"The first phase of the construction period extends from 22 November to 15 December," he said.
The following areas will be improved during this time:
- The Buffalo Bay beachfront parking area
- Main Road (N2)
- Nelson Street
- St George's Street
- Long Street
- Rawson Street
- Hedge Street
- Trotter Street
"Improving our roads is part of our commitment to maintaining and improving the greater Knysna municipal area's infrastructure," Adonis explained. "Maintaining proper road surfaces aids us in providing top-class services to our customers, and will refresh the 'look' of our town."
Works will necessarily affect traffic and road users are asked to observe temporary lane closures, adhere to temporary road signage, and to take extra care while travelling. "We apologise for the temporary inconvenience these works will cause, and thank you for your patience," Adonis said.
"This project will not only make for a smoother and safer experience for all road users, but will make it easier to visit, live and do business in Knysna."
