KNYSNA NEWS - A delegation of administrators and senior officials from Knysna municipality visited the Knysna Taxi Rank on Monday morning, 3 March.
According to a statement posted by the municipality on its Facebook page, mayor Thando Matika was accompanied on the visit by members of the mayoral committee, municipal manager Lulamile Mapholoba, and senior management personnel.
'First-hand insight'
"The delegation engaged directly with taxi operators, commuters, and local vendors to gain first-hand insight into the issues faced at the taxi rank.
"This proactive approach emphasises the municipality's commitment to improving public transportation infrastructure and ensuring a safe, efficient environment for all users," read the statement.
It further said the mayor emphasised the importance of collaboration between the municipality and stakeholders in the taxi industry, to develop sustainable solutions.
'Necessary improvements'
The mayor "reaffirmed the administration's dedication to addressing the concerns raised and enhancing the overall functionality of the taxi rank for the benefit of the greater Knysna community".
The municipality would continue to engage with relevant parties to implement necessary improvements and would keep the public informed about progress in this regard.
The municipality had not responded to queries at the time of publication, and when a response is received, it will be published.
