Police officers from the Rural Flying Squad were conducting patrols along the highway in Knysna when a man with multiple stab wounds to his body approached them.
"Swift response to the incident ensured that the victim received emergency medical support and they also arrested a suspect," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies.
"The 36-year-old suspect remains in custody." He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in the Knysna Magistrate's Court this week on a charge of attempted murder.
In a separate incident on 20 August, an intelligence-driven operation in Knysna by officers of the George Public Order Police and Crime Intelligence led to the recovery of various stolen items valued at nearly R100 000 in an informal settlement in Vigilance Drive.
The team acted on a tip-off and conducted a search and seizure operation at a house. "The members proceeded with an intensive search of the premises which yielded success when they recovered a lithium battery, fridge and a set of golf clubs. Police confiscated the items and arrested two suspects," Spies explained.
The suspects, aged 30 and 33, remain in police custody.
"They are scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrate's Court this week on a charge of possession of stolen property each.
"More charges could be added as the investigation unfolds," Spies said.
