KNYSNA NEWS - Three dogs died after dogfighting in Flenters, Concordia, as reported in Knysna-Plett Herald last week.
The fourth dog involved in the incident, which has survived, has been called Lucky by the Knysna Animal Welfare Society (KAWS).
Police arrested three men who are out on R500 bail, charged with four counts of animal cruelty and due to appear in court for sentencing on 12 February.
Sidina Mbhinqo (41), Jason Smit (19) and Tolani Honono (20) were responsible for fighting with these dogs on Wednesday, 10 January.
One dog died from its injuries that night while two dogs had to be euthanased by KAWS, but Lucky has made it.
Last week, KAWS general manager Annelien Kitley said the two dogs had to be put down because after their experience they could never be rehomed given their fighting background.
They were holding thumbs for the one dog left and hopeful that they could keep her.
This week, manager Retha Havenga said, "We are so happy to report that this puppy is doing well and we have every hope of finding a home for her."
They have appropriately named her Lucky.
