KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Municipality's traffic officers shared some road safety knowledge with little residents on Workers' Day.
The traffic department hosted an information session for the children of local crèches Hilder Stent and Happy Faces at the Hornlee sports field on 1 May.
Traffic officers Chris van Rensburg, Denver LaVack and Chrystal Booysen-Jacobs not only taught the little ones about road safety, by giving them a few tips, but they went the extra mile by looking at issues around fighting and bullying at school.
The officers made the day of learning fun by handing out road safety learning material in the form of colouring books, pencil cases, reflective strips and other goodies to ensure that the message stays with them and enable them to share their new found knowledge with family and friends.
The officers also taught them that on rainy days, or when visibility is low all pedestrians should wear high visibility clothing.
Other schools within the Knysna area that wish to have the road safety programme implemented at their school can contact the traffic department on 044 302 6337/6551 or email: traffic@knysna.gov.za / cvanrensburg@knsyna.gov.za. Future participants are urged to allow ample time to do the arrangements.
