KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Lions charity organisation held a successful fundraising event outside Builders Warehouse this past Saturday, where it sold pins featuring a white cane for R10, to raise funds and promote awareness for the visually impaired.
Recently the Knysna Lions Club celebrated 50 years of selfless service to the community.
According to one of the organisers, Diana Bamford, a portion of the money raised from the sale of the pins was donated to the SA Guide-Dogs Association.
"We were blown away at the generosity of the local people who were doing their shopping on Saturday, and still were kind enough to listen to our story and support our cause. We really appreciate it," Bamford said.
Bamford said the balance of the proceeds from the sale of the pins went to BrightSight, a charity group that recycles old spectacle frames and repurposes them for the less fortunate.
