KNYSNA NEWS - With three remaining league fixtures this season, the pacesetters La liga Football Club extended their lead in the Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional League on Saturday.
The Knysna side sank Black Cats FC 2-1 in a thrilling game at the Loerie Park Stadium.
With 60 points, and in its first season in the regional league, La liga is aiming for the crown and the play-offs in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe Provincial League.
La liga left wing back Andy Thembo was exceptional on the defence and created scoring opportunities, while the versatile Oscar Potswana showed his ability to build forward movements into the box.
The top-of-the table clash started on fire with both teams rolling the ball on the ground. Wagner Herzl of La liga used his speed to penetrate through the Black Cats back line. On the right side, Siphosethu Matha of La liga missed the first chance of the game when his shot went over the goal.

A strong forward movement by La liga caused some panic among the Black Cats defenders and with Herzl attacking on the left side, he broke through and levelled the score on 1-1.
La liga gained even more confidence in the second half, with the flanks taking the game away from Black Cats. La liga right wing back, Owothando Wana, sent the ball into the box giving Buhle Nqeto an opportunity to score, but the ball hit the woodwork.
Sandiso Mavi of Black Cats also missed a chance when his shot went wide. The Knysna team received a corner kick on the left side allowing Buhle Nqeto to score their second goal, putting them in the lead 2-1. With this end score, La liga took the win, collecting maximum points at home.
