KNYSNA NEWS - Four dancers from Carmen's School of Dance have once again done Knysna proud by excelling in the online MOVE! National Dance Competition where they bagged seven gold and three silver awards.
As with countless other events around the country, in May the Theatre Dance Association (the organisers of MOVE!) announced that their annual competition would be moved online.
This meant dancers would have to enter their submissions online via video by the end of July to be adjudicated by the three judges. Due to social distancing rules, the dancers were only allowed to enter solo dance items.
The four young Knysna dancers entered various performances in the classical ballet solo, the demi-character ballet solo, and the national solo genres (they could choose any style here). With the results only being released on 4 September, all involved were on tenterhooks.
Not only did seven of the dances earn gold awards (90-100%) and three silver awards (80-89%), it was also announced that nine of the 10 entries placed in the top three across all age categories nationally.
