SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Runners of Knysna Marathon Club (KMC) took to the roads of Slow Town last weekend for their weekly club run and were treated to some great weather along the way.
The KMC runners have been having these outings since February, and they have proved to be a key way for the club's members to keep going and stay fit.
Every week they tackle a new set of challenges by choosing routes of various distances around Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, and Sedgefield. In recent weeks they have traversed routes around Knysna's forests (also a Mandela Day project), followed by a run around Plett.
This time the runners took on a route around the Slow Town of the CX region, Sedgefield. According to Melikhaya Msizi, KMC club captain, 14 runners did a circular route from the Total garage, round The Island, along Myoli Beach, Cola Beach, Groenvallei and back.
"We really enjoyed the run in Segdefield, surprisingly the weather played along perfectly for running. The Segdefield run was very relaxing and calm, there were friendly people along the route," he said.
According to Msizi the runs are not only fun, but also provide important training.
This weekend they will be returning to their base for a run around Knysna.
