KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna police have opened a culpable homicide docket following the death of a 62-year-old woman who was struck and killed on the N2 highway on Friday morning, 17 April.
According to a statement from Warrant Officer Chris Spies, Southern Cape police spokesperson, the incident occurred at approximately 07:40 when the pedestrian was allegedly crossing the roadway and was struck by a Nissan Tiida travelling along the busy national route.
"Emergency medical services responded to the scene, where the woman sustained multiple injuries. She was declared dead on arrival by paramedics. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, and the exact cause of the accident has not yet been determined."
The police confirmed that a culpable homicide investigation has been opened, and all relevant factors leading up to the incident will be examined.
