KNYSNA NEWS - The man suspected of dousing a 69-year-old woman with petrol in the Knysna CBD while trying to rob her, has been arrested in Rustenburg in North West. George William Cameron (47), charged with attempted murder and robbery, was arrested in Rustenburg in the North West earlier this week. He is scheduled to appear in court in Rustenburg later today, 2 July.
Southern Cape Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Christopher Spies, says a tipoff led the police to a house at Rustenburg where the fugitive was apprehended.
It is alleged that Cameron lured the woman into a business transaction in Waterfront Drive near the Waterfront in Knysna on Wednesday 5 May.
He told the woman he wanted to rent wedding dresses from her for a modelling show. At the rendezvous, Cameron got into her vehicle and threatened the victim. He allegedly poured petrol on her body and attempted to rob her. The woman managed to escape after which he fled on foot.

Cameron remains in custody and the matter is being transferred to Knysna where he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday 5 July.
Acting Eden Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phumzile Cetyana, thanked everyone who assisted with the search and subsequent arrest.
