KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Municipality has welcomed a new intake of work-integrated learning (WIL) interns who will undertake an 18-month practical training programme in various municipal departments.
The programme is funded through a discretionary grant from the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (Chieta), following a successful application by the municipality’s Human Resources Department.
The interns, many of whom have completed their N4, N5 and N6 theoretical studies, will gain the workplace experience required for their National N Diploma.
The programme will provide practical experience in municipal administration, governance and service delivery, as well as workplace skills such as communication, teamwork and accountability.
The municipality said the initiative would give young people valuable workplace experience, support skills development and improve their employment prospects.
