KNYSNA NEWS - Potential co-operation in boatbuilding, tourism, skills development and investment was discussed when Knysna’s municipal leaders met with the Indian Consul during an introductory visit to the town recently.

The meeting focused on identifying areas in which links with India could benefit Knysna’s local economy and create opportunities for skills transfer, training, business partnerships and job creation.

Particular attention was given to the boatbuilding and leisure boating sectors, as well as tourism, and the parties discussed the possibility of sharing knowledge, expertise and business networks.

Skills development, investment promotion, cultural exchange and training were also identified as potential areas for future co-operation.

Knysna’s Mayor Thando Matika, Speaker Mark Willemse, councillors Phindile Petros and Neil Louw, the director of planning and development, Andiswa Dunywa, and acting director of corporate services, Charl Botha, attended the meeting.

The municipality said a follow-up meeting would be arranged to discuss practical initiatives and identify opportunities for co-operation.
