PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Not only did the Sport Kickboxing Academy Plett dojo have seven kickboxers competing at the recent national championships, three of them emerged as medallists and two were crowned national champions.
The South African Kickboxing Association (Saka) SA National Championships were held in Lephalale, Limpopo, on 29 and 30 April, and our local kickboxers excelled.
The seven-strong contingent from Sport Kickboxing Academy Plett was made up of sensei Janine Stephens (the only one from Knysna), Lojza Pisonic, Blake Taylor, Wian Venter, Kieran Anderson, sensei Gee Bleeker and Eden Bleeker.
The medallists were sensei Janine Stephens (gold: under 60kg points fighting); sensei Gee Bleeker (gold: under 84kg points fighting); and Eden Bleeker (silver: junior under 55kg continuous; bronze: junior under 55kg kick light; bronze: junior under 55kg points fighting).
The pair who finished first have now qualified to go to the world championships in Abu Dhabi next year.
