KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Municipality's joint operations centre says a 36 000l tanker from George Municipality is taking water to a Rheenendal reservoir to boost its supply.
In a statement issued jointly with the Garden Route District Municipality and the Western Cape Government, the centre said one water truck will remain dedicated to servicing the Rheenendal area, while another will be redirected to assist the Hornlee area.
Rheenendal residents will have access to direct water supply between 18:00 and 20:00. After 20:00, the system will be temporarily closed to allow reservoir levels to recover and stabilise.
The centre said water delivery operations for zone 5/ward 4 are continuing with roaming deliveries to the following areas:
- Bloemfontein
- Phelandaba
- Sisulu Street (eRatyini)
- Gijima Street (circle)
- Chris Nissen School (Taxi Stop)
- Rhobololo 1
- Rhobololo 2
- eQolweni
- Nkandla
- Greenfield
- Emabhananeni
- Rholihlahla (Magogo Stadium)
The centre said a water truck will roam in these affected areas in ward 6:
- Rykmanshoogte
- Fraaisig
- Fontein Street/Fontain Valley.
- Stroebel Street (Katanga area)
One dedicated water tanker has been assigned to the zone1/ward 10 area.
The assigned truck is to roam the following areas throughout the day:
- All streets surrounding Hill, Voortrekker, Templeman, Edwards Street, Eastford, Simola, and Upper Town
- The previous designated pick-up point will still be serviced; however, if no residents are present or waiting, the truck will only stop for a few minutes before moving on to cover more ground.
The centre said in zone 9/ward 11 water has been restored in some streets.
