GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - On Tuesday 24 October, the Wilderness Section of Garden Route National Park, supported by SANParks, hosted a Cancer Awareness Walk to raise awareness about cancer, honour survivors, and provide support to those affected by the disease.
The event coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and emphasised the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, early detection and improved survival rates through screening and diagnosis.
Over 200 participants joined the walk, which began at the Wilderness National Park and followed the historic Seven Passes Road to Wilderness.
There were presentations by cancer experts, and on-site cancer-related tests and screenings were offered by a clinic.
GRNP staff donned pink and white for the walk.
Biodiversity Social Projects staff did their part in helping raise awareness of breast cancer.
