KNYSNA NEWS - Glitz and glamour were the order of the evening as the very first Knysna Arts and Awareness Lifestyle Charity Event took place at Villa Castollini on Friday 27 October. The evening offered guests a sophisticated mix of entertainment.
It is the first of many arts and awareness events that the organiser, Alliance Management Consulting, plans to host in the Garden Route in future.
It is thanks to the owner of Alliance Management Consulting, André Johnson's discerning eye for arts and culture that the event was such a success.
From the moment guests stepped into the venue, they were embraced by an atmosphere of sophistication. The event featured an array of artistic expressions, including art auctions, fashion shows, spoken word performances, and musical acts.
The carefully curated selection of arts and entertainment highlighted the cultural heritage of Knysna in the form of its artisans and trend setters. Artists such as Stanley Grootboom, poet Sauno Was-Lemuel, saxophonist Janey Mitchell and Tino Singe, among many others, brought their unique artistic contributions to the fore.
Fashion designers Austin Lee and Angeline Barnado dazzled the audience with their innovative collections during the fashion shows. The showcase boasted vibrant colours, exquisite designs and a fusion of contemporary and traditional aesthetics.
A highlight of the evening was the auction of an artwork done by Stanley Grootboom which raised the crowd's interest and opened many pockets. Ultimately, the highest bidder was none other than the keynote speaker, actor Zane Meas.
While the event celebrated the arts and cultural heritage of Knysna, its true purpose was to make a meaningful impact in the community through philanthropy, and correspondingly funds raised from the auctions were donated to Knysna Alcohol and Drug Centre (KADC).
