KNYSNA NEWS - Greenwood Bay College learners recently excelled on the sports field, with teams shining on the cricket field and a rising MTB cyclist performing well on the track.
GBC's U9 and U13 teams played matches against Oakhill, managing to win both.
The U9 team chased down the total of 59 runs to win the match set by Oakhill. Cameron Nefdt top scored for GBC with 18 runs. In the U13 game, GBC came out tops by a narrow 15 runs. Liam Michler was the pick of the GBC batsmen, scoring 33 not out while Mickey Young finished off with bowling figures of 3 wickets for 9 runs after his 4 overs.
On the MTB track, it has been Matt Leppan that's held GBC's name high. On 15 February Leppan took part in the Nissan Trailseeker 34km MTB Half-marathon race at Banhoek Lodge in Stellenbosch. Leppan placed 3rd overall as the 3rd U18, thanks to a time of 01:31:31. Leppan then managed to better this result at the 50km Oubos MTB Marathon on 29 February, finishing in 1st place, clocking a time of 2:04:40.
