PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The family of a former Plettenberg Bay detective has confirmed that the 54-year-old woman was murdered in the early hours of Monday morning.
The body of Anneke ‘Nicky’ van Heerden was discovered near Riverside Park along Keurbooms Beach.
The discovery was made in the early hours of Monday, according to her brother-in-law, Hein Bruwer.
Bruwer said Van Heerden was previously employed as a detective at the Plettenberg Bay Police Station.
He added that she had been visiting a friend in Plettenberg Bay whom she had only met about a week earlier.
Bruwer said details surrounding her death remained unclear at this stage. A man had reportedly been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The police has been approached for comment and their response will be published once received.
