KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna municipality recently introduced their Knysna Film and Events portal as a way to offer new opportunities for local businesses.
The launch, at Belvidere Manor on 8 September 8, had locals and business owners from different sectors come together to take notes on how to register their businesses and apply for opportunities on the new website.
Mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies said this opportunity comes at a time when the town is hard at work rebuilding and it is important to find various ways to facilitate large-scale investment in the area.
She said it is an "undeniable fact" that tourism remains the largest and most successful industry within Greater Knysna, as well as one of the most important employment providers/sectors in the town.
By registering on this new portal, any Knysna business would in future be visible to potential film-makers and thus put them in the potential movie spotlight.
“Tourism does not stand alone and we have realised that in order for us to develop tourism, we need other industries to be developed to create further avenues for investment within our area. This will most definitely assist in creating greater employment opportunities," said Bouw-Spies.
The mayor assured the attendees that the website was designed by a professional team, who follow the film and event industries’ processes and operational requirements, and she invited all the guests to visit the website for further information.
