KNYSNA NEWS - The curtain has officially fallen on the 2024/25 Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional League season, and for the Hornlee-based FC Rebels, survival has never tasted sweeter.
Promoted to the regional league just two seasons ago, FC Rebels were staring down relegation for much of the campaign.
However, a crucial 1-0 victory over Voota FC on the final day at Hornlee Stadium ensured their stay in the elite regional division for at least another season.
Having spent the entire first leg of the season rooted in the second-bottom position, the Rebels turned things around in the closing fixtures, securing a string of positive results.
Their final-day performance, capped by a hard-fought win, lifted them to 13th place with 34 points. The Rebels' overall record stands at 10 wins, four draws and 16 losses from 30 matches.
Relegation confirmed for two clubs.
Meanwhile, the season ended in heartbreak for Red Eagles FC (Knysna) and Kabu Yellow FC (Plettenberg Bay), who were both relegated to their respective Local Football Associations (LFAs) after under-whelming seasons.
The Red Eagles bow out after four consecutive seasons in the regional league, while Kabu Yellow, who joined the division this season, are relegated after just one year at the higher level.
