KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA:
SHOPLIFTING - WATERFRONT DR (Thurs 6 September @ 16h58) – Our control room received a call for assistance after shoplifted items were sold at a business premises. SAPS were notified, no case was opened at the time.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY - LONG ST (Thurs 6 September @ 02h09) - Camera Controller spotted a suspicious person on cameras and dispatched Response. The suspect was found wearing limited edition trainers stolen the week before from a guesthouse. SAPS were notified. The guest declined to open a case and suspect was released.
COMMON ROBBERY - LONG ST (Fri 7 September @ 10h22) – Officer responded to panic alarm. An elderly lady was reportedly robbed of her purse. A clothing description was provided and officers searched. No arrests were made.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - NEWTON ST (Sun 9 September @ 15h17) - Client reported that while they were out, their domestic worker disturbed an intruder trying to break into the flat. The suspect had fled empty-handed. A portion of the fence was also found broken. No case was opened.
BURGLARY - GREEN ST (Sun 9 September @ 15h47) - Client reported that his guarding shed was broken into. A pressure washer, hosepipe and camping chairs were stolen. SAPS were notified for a case to be opened.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - LONG ST (Tues 11 September @ 23h07) - Officer responded to alarm signal. On searching the premises, he found a known suspect hiding behind container. Suspect was found in possession of a wheel spanner. SAPS were notified and suspect was handed over.
KNYSNA HEIGHTS / PARADISE
THEFT - FAURE ST (Fri 7 September @ 16h21) - Client reported that a suspect stole a door from his property and ran. Description was provided and suspect was later identified. No case was opened.
BURGLARY - FAURE ST (Fri 7 September @ 23h18) - Camera Controller spotted a possible suspicious person on cameras. Response officer searched and found a weedeater and angle grinder hidden in bushes. Items were later linked to a break-in and owner identified the items were returned.
SALT RIVER / GREEN PASTURES / BLARRICUM
BURGLARY - CRAWBERRY CLOSE (Thurs 6 September @ 01h15) - Resident phoned to report that a burglary. Suspect entered via unlocked door and stole a tablet, cellphone, speaker and watch. Resident tracked the cellphone while SAPS and Allsound Officers searched. The speaker and tablet were recovered at a property in White Location. A suspect was identified for further investigation.
WELBEDACHT / EASTFORDS
BURGLARY - CUTHBERT ST (Wed 12 September @ 04h49) - Officer responded to alarm signal and found window wide open and laptop having been moved. Suspect had tried to pull the laptop through the window but fled when the alarm triggered. No case was opened.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA -
THEFT - OLD TOLL RD (Thurs 6 September @ 15h50) - Client phoned to report seeing a suspicious person going into nearby property. Suspect was found in possession of a sail claiming the owner gave it to him. Owner had not authorised anyone to take the item. Suspect was released and sail was confiscated.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / HORNLEE / NEKKIES
BURGLARY - CHUNGWA ST (Fri 7 September @ 08h50) – Keyholder reported a break-in at the property. Window was broken and burglar bars forced off. A hard drive was reportedly missing from the desk. A case was opened with SAPS.
THEFT - BOSWERKER ST (Sun 9 September @ 14h43) - Client requested assistance after apprehending a suspect who stole washing from their line. Case was opened and suspect was charged.
BURGLARY - SONQAYI ST (Mon 10 September @ 09h41) - Keyholder reported that there was a break-in at the property. There was no forced entry and it was suspected that the door key was stolen. Food items were missing from the fridge. No case was opened.
LEISURE ISLAND
THEFT - CHURCH SQUARE (Wed 12 September @ 15h30) - Resident reported that a bicycle was stolen from the property. Owner later reported seeing a group of kids with the bicycle on the N2. Three kids were apprehended and the bicycle was recovered. No case was opened.
