KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Municipality assures residents that the discoloured water currently coming from their taps is safe for human consumption.
It says the coupling of the new Charlesford pipe to the Eastford pipeline is the reason behind the coloured water, as water comes from the Akkerkloof Dam instead of the Knysna River while the coupling is being effected.
In a notice on Monday 29 March, the municipality said the discolouration of the water will be improved shortly. “This potable water may be discoloured, but it is safe for human consumption,” the notice reads.
“We are now blending water from the river with the dam water and are working with the chemical supplier’s expert on fixing the aesthetic quality of the water.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience,” said the municipality.
