KNYSNA NEWS AND VIDEO - Those still seeking closure after the June fires of 2017 might soon see a glimmer of light and hope when the long-awaited Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s (CSIR) full report on the inferno that hit Elandskraal and Knysna is released.
Noseweek reported on Thursday 21 June that the CSIR called a special meeting to authorise the release of the long-delayed report concerning the cause of the disaster.
The final report will be released after feedback from the Knysna Municipality and Western Cape disaster management group.
The Vulcan Wildfire Management report commissioned by the Western Cape Government regarding the Knysna Fires, was also released this week.
Watch a video of Vosloo explaining his theory, and Afriforum’s, in depth
Dr Wallace Vosloo near the site in Elandskraal where both he and Afriforum have said the fires of 7 June 2017 started. Both parties believe a lightning strike ignited an underground smoulder months earlier which burned relentlessly and eventually – by way of the heavy berg winds of the day – turned into the inferno residents of the Elandskraal community, as well as Knysna, lived through.
