KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna constituency head for the DA, Ryan Smith, noted “with deep concern" the allegations of a death threat and intimidation, allegedly made by Knysna mayor Aubrey Tsengwa and deputy mayor Alberto Marbi, against the acting municipal manager Phaahle Simon Malepeng.
“We understand that Mr Malepeng has reported this matter to the police and we call on the SAPS to conduct a swift investigation and to take any action necessary against the accused,” said Smith.
Malepeng sent an email to Knysna council speaker Mncedisi Skosana early on Thursday 31 October, stating that Tsengwa and Marbi had allegedly demanded his resignation “with immediate effect”, and had allegedly said that if he did not agree to this, “my life will be at risk including a death threat”.
He claimed the alleged death threat was made during a meeting held at the George Airport on 29 October at 11:00, where various accusations against him were allegedly made, “including accusations relating to Grey Elephant Investment and that I am colluding with the DA to put them under the bus”, said Malepeng’s email.
Smith said in a statement: “As the DA, we trust that the SAPS will conduct a thorough investigation of these allegations."
