KNYSNA NEWS - Five ladies from CrossFit Knysna recently earned three medals at the South African Weightlifting Championships hosted by Eden Fitness.
The championships were held in Mossel Bay on Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 October.
For all the Knysna ladies, it was their second national championships, and it was the third time that the club was taking part in the competition.
"It is a highlight of the competition year. We look forward to many more years and many more records being broken," said Dwayne Hurn of CrossFit Knysna. "They had so much fun challenging themselves last year that they came back for more and are now looking to invest more time in the craft and come back next year with a vengeance."
Hurn was proud of the ladies' efforts, as they all managed to lift their best number and break personal records.
"Weightlifting is a sport that can bring out and test people's character and all these women that competed were shining under the pressure of the lights and the platform," he said.
"As a coach and athlete in the sport, I have almost 10 years of experience now, and even longer in strength sport in general. I love passing on the lessons I have learnt to these eager athletes and watch them grow athletically, as well as [witnessing] their growth as people."
