KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna CPF has issued a plea to the community urging them to refrain from posting the location of Saps/SANDF roadblocks during lockdown, also providing a few tips on what to have ready when you approach a roadblock.
"The Knysna CPF kindly advises that we please do not report on social media etc. where the Roadblocks and Police are deployed," said the organisation's chairperson Cheryl Britz. "This is for your own safety and the safety of others."
Britz also further urged residents to "be courteous and patient at all time" as the officers one might encounter have been given a strict set of directives to follow. "They will not negotiate, and they certainly will not take kindly to being abused or tolerate bad attitudes all day long," she warned.
"Please produce what is requested by the officer at the roadblock."
In light of this, Britz also offered guidelines of what residents can have prepared for when they go through a roadblock. "These are not the exact, fixed rules, but are simply guidelines you can follow to help make things easier," Britz said.
- Have your ID document on hand.
- If on route to the shop have shopping bags and shopping list with you.
- If going to the pharmacy make sure you have your script or doctors note. If returning from the shops or pharmacy you can show your receipts for goods purchased (or show your groceries/medication) .
- Always keep your charged phone with you.
- Always inform your family where you are going and consider activating 'Live Tracking' on your WhatsApp if possible .
A last call from Britz, was for residents to remember to thank law enforcement members. "They really do appreciate any acknowledgement and support for their efforts."
