This project is intended to facilitate goodwill in the community of the Southern Cape, the distribution area of Group Editors newspapers.
The project is not cash driven - instead we ask our readers to merely part with whatever they may have too much of, be it excess clothing, shoes that no longer fit, sporting gear that is no longer needed, in fact, anything that others may be able to put to good use.
Winter is upon us and many children face the prospect of having to walk to and from school with no shoes.
Many of us sit with old school shoes that are no longer used. Group Editors will polish all the old school shoes and make sure they are spick-and-span for others to use. We will distribute them to someone who can make good use of them.
Canon's generous donation will be split between Knysna and George to be distributed among the needy in these two communities. "Thank you very much to Canon for their incredibly generous donation. It is going to ensure that many needy will have a pair of shoes this winter," said Lorraine Verhagen who received the gift on behalf of Group Editors.
Companies or individuals who wish to contribute towards the Oliver Twist Project, may contact her on 044 874 2424.
