GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - One of the things that Garden Route residents and everybody who has visited the Garden Route have always known, has been made official!
The Garden Route has officially been ranked the number one road trip in the world for driving conditions. Of course the area's natural beauty played absolutely no part in the iconic drive being placed first! Wink wink, nudge nudge.
This recognition comes from a recent global study conducted by Autotrader in partnership with meteorologist, Jim R N Dale.
The study evaluated what makes a road trip truly enjoyable, focusing on key factors such as visibility, road surface conditions, clear weather days, wind speed, temperature and humidity.
The Garden Route achieved a super score of 90,6 out of 100, outperforming the most famous routes worldwide, including Route 66 and the Pacific Coast Highway in the USA as well as Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
Stretching about 300 km from Mossel Bay to Storms River, the Garden Route offers coastal beauty, lush forests and scenic mountain passes.
The George Business Chamber says this achievement is not only a win for South Africa but also a significant milestone for our local economy, tourism sector and business community.
