KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Fires and Timber Village will be erecting a Wall of Remembrance in honour of those who lost their lives and for those who lost so much during the Knysna fires, the brave firemen and women who selflessly put their lives on the line to keep the people of Knysna and surrounds safe, the various fire management units from Knysna and surrounds as well as Working on Fire who fought to save people and their property, the SA National Defence Force who assisted with putting out fires, all the other organisations who were on the front line during that devastating time, all the donors and all the volunteers who gave of their time and resources to help residents during this difficult time.
Funds for skills development
Timber Village will construct the wall into which "bricks" will be placed to honour those mentioned above as well as provide the plaque that will be carved to symbolise everything that the wall stands for. All funds raised for this project will be put toward the skills development programme that is being initiated by Timber Village.
Bricks are available at R250 for businesses/organisations/causes that assisted during the Knysna fires as well as those businesses that were damaged or lost, and personal bricks (they will have your name engraved on them) can be purchased for R100.
You will be contacted via the email address that you supply when you purchase your brick, to verify the details that need to be engraved on it once sales of bricks close.
Please understand that while we would love to have provided the bricks at no cost, we simply do not have the capacity or the means to pay for the bricks ourselves.
Eternal Knysna tie
Your Brick of Remembrance reflects your love for Greater Knysna and its community, and ties you forever to the people and the cause that the Wall of Remembrance honours.
The wall will serve as a permanent place of honour for you to visit and reflect, with your personal contribution reflected in the brick that carries your name.
It is a fantastic way for you to honour those who passed away during the Knysna fires, to honour and remember those who lost so much as a result of the fires, to pay homage to those who helped keep Knysna and her people safe and to those volunteers and donors who gave so selflessly of their time and resources to not only assist during the fires, but to help Knysna rise again.
