KNYSNA NEWS - Percy Mdala High School in Khayalethu, Knysna, was evacuated on Thursday afternoon, 3 October after the school received a bomb threat.
Panicked pupils phoned their parents and relatives once they left the school buildings, causing alarm across the town.
Sergeant Chris Spies, Southern Cape police spokesperson, said the school had "received a bomb threat telephonically" from an unknown person, who claimed there was a bomb on the school premises.
"Knysna police were summoned to the school at about 13:35. The school was evacuated and experts dispatched.
"Members attached to the bomb disposal unit and a trained explosive dog from SAPS K9 were deployed. The premises were later declared safe," Spies said.
"A criminal case was opened for further police investigation. Efforts to track the caller are also under way."
