PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Bitou youngsters now have the opportunity to take a leap to independence and employability with the help of the local municipality.
The municipality decided to offer a learnership to assist the local youth to acquire driver's and learner's licenses.
During his budget speech on 7 June, Bitou Mayor Dave Swart committed to introducing such an initiative and this programme is now being implemented. It is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 years and applications will close on31 August.
Application forms are available at the main municipal office building and all libraries. Applications can be submitted at the main office in Sewell Street.
Those in outlying areas like Kranshoek, the Crags and Green Valley can submit their applications at their local libraries and it will be picked up there.
From this week, forms will also be downloadable from the municipal website and social media sites.
The municipality's communication team urged applicants to ensure that all details are correctly provided.
