PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The position of chief financial officer of the Bitou Municipality is up in the air after the newly appointed CFO failed to assume his role earlier this month.
Following an extensive recruitment process the preferred candidate, Christopher Mapeyi, was appointed by council in October 2022 to commence duties on 3 January this year.
It is believed that Mapeyi repudiated his employment contract by not turning up for work. It is however believed that in accordance with labour laws, this does not amount to a repudiation and the employment contract would remain in place until Mapeyi officially resigns.
